Our work: the engineering story behind each entrance

A selection of recent projects across Surrey, described the way we think about them — the site problem, the design answer, and the engineering underneath. Photography is available at survey appointments and drive-past references can be arranged for comparable local work.

Recent projects

Victorian scroll pair with underground automation — Guildford

A period villa on a rising drive off Pewley Hill: the slope was 60mm across the arc, right at the swing limit. Rising hinges rescued the inward swing, CAME underground motors kept the ironwork clean, and the scroll pattern was profiled from surviving railings on the property. Drainage spurs from both foundation boxes to a new soakaway — the detail that makes underground automation survive on that hillside.

Cantilever slider over gravel — Busbridge, Godalming

A 4.2m opening onto a gravel forecourt with generous boundary run: textbook cantilever territory. Steel-framed leaf with oak-effect aluminium boarding, BFT operator, nose receiver taking storm loads, and nothing crossing the gravel to sweep or freeze.

Full estate entrance — private road, Oxshott

New brick piers with engineered foundations and pre-formed voids for control gear, a 2m boarded steel pair with anti-lift hinge detailing, video intercom and ANPR in pier niches, and a matched pedestrian gate with audit-logged fob access. Designed as one drawing with the landscape architect; delivered in a fourteen-week programme around the wider build.

Rescue re-automation — Weybridge

Inherited installation, obsolete unbranded board, no safety equipment, forces off the scale of the meter. Motors replaced with Nice 24V units, edges and dual photocell runs added per the entrapment map, force-tested and documented — the before/after readings now sit in the owner's file for their insurer.

Patterns across the portfolio

The projects differ; the method doesn't. Every job starts with the five site variables (slope, space, wind, power, entrapment zones), every design is drawn to scale before fabrication, and every handover ends with a force meter and a documents pack. If you'd like to see comparable work near you, say so when you get in touch — most areas we serve contain installations we can point to.

Frequently asked questions

Can I see photos of your work?

Yes — full project photography is shown at survey appointments, and this page describes representative projects. We keep client addresses off the public site deliberately; discretion is part of what our clients buy.

Do you take on projects designed by architects?

Regularly — roughly half our estate-entrance work arrives as architects' drawings, which we detail, engineer and deliver within the wider programme.
